On this page I write random musings as they crop up. I will probably keep adding to this and changing it, so feel free to visit this page again.

I decided to try to make a career out of acting because acting is fun. I did Shakespeare once, played a bitter waiter in a web series, and have done various short films and other stage plays, and that recurring experience was that it was fun. And if something is fun to do, you should try to make a living at it.

I admit my career goals are not always sophisticated. One of my favorite movies when I was a child was "Jason and the Argonauts." If someone does a remake, I want to get in on it so I can participate in the big sword fight with the skeletons. Also, I would like to be part of a big cavalry charge (I was enormously happy for all of the actors who got to do that big charge in "Return of the King") I'd also like to be a cowboy in a western gunfight, do a fencing scene like the one Tyrone Power and Basil Bathbone did in "Mark of Zorro," and be a cast member in an ensemble film like "The Great Escape," or "The Guns of Navarone." Those are all movies on my favorite-films list.

Mostly, I'd like to play weirdos, psychos, villians, and hard-to-ignore fools. Those are all fun to play. So yes, fun is  recurring theme in all that I chase after as an actor.

I would love to be in a movie like "Plan Nine from Outer Space." You might scoff at that, because that film was not exactly Oscar-worthy, but it has a likeable sincerity to it, an unaccountable indication that everybody involved in it loved film, that made up for the movie's lack of competence. Also, I get the impression everybody involved really liked working together and they were all nice to each other. That's the kind of film set I want to be on.

In the course of my life I have been a newspaper reporter, assistant guide for a kayaking tour company, waiter, member of the U.S. Army, fencing instructor (for free. I didn't get paid for that one), security guard, freelance writer, janitor, and I briefly worked the overnight shift loading cakes onto a conveyor belt in a giant bakery. I've tried stand up comedy, skydiving, and medieval sword fighting with rattan sticks.

I self-published an ebook novel loosely based on my experiences in medieval re-enacting and college. It's entitled "The Brief Season," and you can find it at Smashwords.com. It's very low-priced (nudge wink).

Thanks for reading. And if you hear of anybody remaking "Jason and the Argonauts," email me.
